1 DOE is, a methodology of varying a number of input factors simultaneously, in a planned manner, such that their individual and combined effects on the output can be identified. A n example of a few ways it can be applied are, choosing between alternatives, selecting the key factors affecting a response, and response surface modeling to hit a target.
2 To mistake proof the process, to help provide some intervention device or procedure to catch the mistake before it is translated into the nonconforming product. a few everyday examples are Gas pumps with automatic shut off nozzles, seat belt buzzer, and lawnmower safety shut off switch for the seat.
